“For everything, there is a season, and a time for all things under heaven” Ecc 3:1 The Byrds made a song that included this verse and popularized it. if you want a life well lived, it is best if you understand that this is a truism about life. There ARE seasons to our life. Nothing stays the same forever-hills and valleys, good times and bad, they happen to us all. THE SECRET IS UNDERSTANDING THE SEASON YOU ARE IN AND ENJOYING IT.
You say, “but Karen, I am in a bad season-how can I enjoy it?” Look for the lesson, you will
only be in that season long enough to learn the lesson of that season. There IS a reason for the season! Once you learn the lesson of that season, it will pass. Like old clothes or an old pair of shoes, discarded forever. ALWAYS be present in the season…but KNOW that it is temporary-just a season.
Maybe things are going great for you right now, you have money, everything is stable in your family, and your business is good. ENJOY it. But KNOW that it will not last. Another season is around the corner. It’s ok, you may have done nothing wrong. It is just life. LIFE IS SEASONS. I was sitting on top of my game, life was easy, money was flowing and then last week I lost my processor. Now, I am entering a season of work. I did nothing wrong, my processor did. But until I find another one, my workload just increased. It is OK, it is the next thing-God has a purpose for this happening and it will work out to my benefit. I’m going to enjoy being a processor AND a loan officer. Haven’t had to do that since 2016.
When things are going great-enjoy, drink it in. Stop striving for the next thing long enough to enjoy what is going on in your life. ENJOY the good! But don’t get cocky…stay humble.
Tragedy will come-it is part of life on this side of heaven. When it comes, don’t crater and run, don’t weep and gnash your teeth. Understand that it too is a season. It won’t break you.
When things are not going your way, don’t hide in depression. Keep going, look for what the lesson is. WE LEARN THE MOST IN THE VALLEYS. I wouldn’t wish the valleys of my life on my worst enemy but I wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world because they grew me into who I am today. In good times and bad times, focus on what is going on around you and enjoy the journey. It would be a boring life if it was the same thing every day. Whatever season you find yourself in right now….drink it in. This too shall pass!
